Today’s Earworm

Giving Thanks

My wife and children are safe, clean, and fed. I couldn’t always say that.

My house is whole and clean. I couldn’t always say that.

We have food for not just us, but family. I couldn’t always say that.

We’re still employed, and know that we’ll be able to keep body and soul together. I couldn’t always say that.

For this, and for a lot of other things, thanks be to God.

Today’s Earworm

Dedicated to Irish Woman’s parenting skills. You see, she just woke up from a dead sleep in a panic. A phone call to the Young Prince and another to his fishing team coach,, and her terror that he had missed his boat launch time were assuaged.

Menu for the Week

Irish Woman is away for the rest of the week, so the cooking is being done by your friendly neighborhood DaddyBear.

For breakfasts, I made a potato-egg-sausage-cheese casserole. It’s really good heated up with hot sauce. I will likely supplement this with fruit and biscuits.

Tonight, dinner was a crockpot full of chicken and rice soup with a couple cans of Rotel, several chopped up chilis, and a healthy helping of cumin.

Tomorrow, we will have roast pork in the crockpot, with soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Not sure if I’ll slice it or shred it. Will be served with vegetables.

Thursday, I’ll be making a pan of Shepherd’s Pie. This was a mainstay when I was growing up, because you can feed an army for about $3.50.

Irish Woman will return on Thursday evening, so she will have many choices for dinner.

Friday and for the foreseeable future, we’ll be having leftovers, because I can never cook for less than a platoon of farm-raised soldiers.
