In Memorium

Adam Yauch, otherwise known as MCA, of the group The Beastie Boys recently died.  I know rap isn’t for everyone, and a lot of the Beastie Boys’ work can’t be played in the car with the kids, but it was a part of me growing up.  There’s nothing I like more than going down the highway in the truck with the windows down and the stereo cranked with some of their music playing.

I must confess an uncharitable degree of satisfaction at hearing this news. Apart from an intense dislike of the noise the group made, some of their moronic “fans” cost me several hundred pounds sterling in damages to the two VWs I owned at the time just so that they could wear a stolen badge around their necks.
I would have happily blowtorched a VW emblem on to wherever they wanted to wear one, all they had to do was ask……..

    Good riddance to bad rubbish,

Bryn, to each their own. Of course, vandalism and theft are inexcusable. I hope my other choices of music are more pleasing to you.

    Indeed, to each their own!
Having looked through your music preferences, we appear to have more in common than otherwise.
I’m old enough to remember nearly all of them and grew up with most of them. I’ve not heard of Heart or Al Yankovic, and Prince has me scrabbling for the re-tune button but all the others are on my playlist.
I humbly suggest there is one grave omission – mid and late period Pink Floyd?
Others on my own playlist include Blackmores Night, Rainbow, Renaissance, The Commodores, Enya, Fleetwood Mack, amongst many others.
Finally, five words to age me by – DEC20, COBOL, Asimov, Heinlein, and Clarke………

I put up some Floyd a while ago, Learning to Fly if I recall correctly. I’ll keep them in mind for later.

I’m not too far behind you. I used to take care of DEC3800’s. COBOL is alive and well, don’t worry about that.

As for Asimov, Heinlein, and Clarke, well, let’s just say I’m passing them on to the next generation.
