For those of you who have read Minivandians, I have a question. Which part of the book did you like more?
I’m outlining book 2, and where the first was 60/40 in favor of the short vignette’s of daily life, it looks like book 2 is tipping more toward the fictional, longer story.
So, of the two kinds of stories, either fictionalized real life or just plain fiction, which did you all prefer?

/ December 9, 2014The struggle is that I started writing the short stories in 2012, and I just don’t have that many interesting things happen in my life. 🙂

/ December 9, 2014Wait, what? With kids, dogs, cats, and assorted outdoor animals intruding… A house that attempts to regularly intrude its mishaps into your well-regulated life… And the Irish Woman to keep you on your toes… You don’t have an interesting life? Right.
But I also liked both parts, as much for the variety as for the stories that you tell in them.

/ December 10, 2014Hey DB,
I liked the short stories, they were neat how you spun a tale of valor and bravery with a backed up septic line for example. Although the “fictional” story that helped explain a debt of honor was very well done. I am sure I was absolutely no help…but you DID ask;)

/ December 10, 2014The fictionalized real life stories were fun… but I don’t see how you could fill a book with them and have it be worth re-reading. “Today, the Minivandian strides forth to mow the lawn…” Eventually, that sort of thing would get old. Go with the fiction, fill in the corners with tales of getting your chariot a pedicure, or however you want to describe rotating the tires.
