Fighting when you have nothing left to lose, and even losing might be an improvement, is not a good place to be.

You also need to figure out what those who oppose you are willing to lose in order to win, or if they even care about losing.  “Some men just want to watch the world burn” could also say “Some men just don’t see any alternative to burning the world down.”
