Today’s Earworm

Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me, an insurance plan?

My friends all have have Blue Cross,

I’m a big Obama fan!

Worked hard in the campaign,

Voted thrice for our man.

Oh, Lord, won’t you buy me, an insurance plan?

I’m gonna be the first one to comment….I lived through this era, I heard this song when it FIRST came out on the radio, I listened to her and understood the atmosphere the country was in….and I got to tell ya; I don’t see why everybody is hepped up about this girl. My buddies and I knew she was just a fat drunk groupie the band would toss if they couldn’t get anything else. All of the hoopla about her soul, rhythm and blues style of singing; well you put enough guitar and reverb into the song you can make anything sound good. There, said it, got that off my chest. Wheeh, feels good…

I’m not going to say that she was the be-all, end-all singer of her generation, but her music reminds me of a time I want to remember, and it’s good, easy-to-sing-along stuff, so I keep listening.
